Lynn Muchnick grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania and currently resides with her family in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She graduated with her B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. She is trained in various mediums including graphite, mixed media, watercolor, oil, and acrylic. Throughout her career, Muchnick has sold hand painted children’s clothes and jewelry in craft shows throughout the Philadelphia area, and has been commissioned to paint murals in clients’ homes. Her true passion is painting and today she primarily works in acrylic and watercolor. Her patrons are predominantly private collectors, many of which commission artwork. 

Muchnick’s paintings vary from landscapes to still lifes, but there is a common theme in her work. “My art focuses on seeing abstraction in reality. Often, I will alter the perspective of my compositions by zooming in on nature and painting abstraction through hyper-realism. My experience working in watercolor and graphite has influenced my acrylic techniques. I paint light. I paint negative and positive space while sometimes subtly and softly indicating an object. Other times I create a sharp and realistic depictions of nature by using crisp strokes and painting several layers of color to give dimension to the painting. It is a labor-intensive work of love, pushing and pulling the lights and darks to achieve the final effect. I hope my paintings will bring a little light and beauty to the world.”
