About The Exhibition
These selected works are paired with Dave Walsh’s exhibition in order to encourage further inquiry into This Land. The artists in this lineup focus on subject matter that is conceptually related to landscape in unique ways, each offering a distinct psychological tone that serves to create contrasting groupings within the exhibition.
While some artists maintain a type of reverence for the sublime, others reference the range of man’s interactions with and impact on the natural world, from tilling the soil to the establishment of an entire city. Our relationship to, responsibility for, and ownership of the land is also called into question alongside matters such as class, labor and divergent political and art histories.
